Netflix and Disney+ Crack Down on Account Sharing, Leading to Subscriber Growth

Since last year, Netflix no longer allows you to stream on a friend or family member’s account. And as a result, they experienced significant growth. Netflix gained 13.1 million subscribers in recent months. Something that Disney+ now seems to be a big example of. Because from the summer onwards it will no longer be possible to share your account with them. The company will give subscribers the option to add additional people from outside their household to the subscription for “an additional fee.”

“We want to reach the largest possible audience with our excellent content,” says Disney’s financial boss. “We look forward to rolling out this new functionality to improve the overall customer experience and grow our subscriber base.” It is still unclear whether these measures will also apply to Belgian subscribers from the summer.
