Netanyahu: I instructed to prepare for all scenarios to deal with Hezbollah
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that he had instructed the army to prepare for all scenarios to deal with Hezbollah.
In a meeting with the heads of local authorities in the front line area in the north, Netanyahu claimed that “their first goal is to achieve a complete victory over Hamas and recover the kidnapped people.”
He continued, saying: “The second goal is to work to ensure that Hamas or something like it does not return the next day.”
Regarding the third goal, Netanyahu said that “it is no less important, which is dealing with the northern front.” He explained, “There is an exchange of strikes on the northern border. We are striking Hezbollah,” so “I instructed the army to prepare for all scenarios.”
He sent a direct threatening message to Hezbollah, saying: “I do not suggest that Hezbollah try Israel, as this would be the greatest sin it has committed,” adding: “We are committed to restoring safety to the citizens of Israel, in the south and in the north.”
Regarding the prisoners and detainees, Netanyahu said: “Our heart is always with the kidnapped and their families. Since the outbreak of the war, we have been working relentlessly to release our kidnapped, including by applying increasing pressure since the start of the ground incursion.” He concluded by saying: “If there is something concrete that can be announced, we will do so.”
Meanwhile, Hebrew media reported that the head of the Israeli Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, met in Cairo with the head of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Abbas Kamel, as part of efforts to conclude a prisoner deal.
