“Together we will fight and together we will defeat Israel’s enemies,” Benjamin Netanyahu told soldiers in northern Israel, a year after the massacre in Gaza began and a week after the offensive against Lebanon began.
“A year ago, we were dealt a terrible blow.” Noting that much had changed in the twelve months that followed, Netanyahu told the soldiers: “The whole world is amazed by the blows you are dealing with our enemies.”
The Israeli Prime Minister is expected to deliver a speech today marking the one year anniversary of the start of operations.
For his part, Israel’s Chief of General Staff, Herchi Halevi, emphasized that his country is waging a “long-term war” against Hamas and Hezbollah, stressing that the military arm of Hamas “has been defeated.”
Meanwhile, Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallad threatened Iran with raids similar to those taking place in Gaza and Lebanon, sparking international concern of a wider Middle East conflagration.
