TEL AVIV – Recent polls show the Likud Party, led by former Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu (Bibi), will get 34 seats out of 120 parliamentary seats in the next election.

This is 4 seats more than the previous round in March 2021. Bibi’s coalition partners, the Ultra-Orthodox parties, are determined to win another 24 seats.

That means, Netanyahu is only three seats away from returning to lead the new Israeli government.

On Thursday (30/6/2022), Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, dissolved itself after a number of failed attempts earlier this week.

As a result, Israelis will again go to the polls on November 1, for the fifth time in three years.

This situation is not surprising to many. Odeh Bisharat, an Israeli Arab publicist and journalist, said he was not surprised by the decision to dissolve Parliament.

He added that the rest of the Arab community in Israel would also react.
