Support from the US Paves the Way for Victory, Asserts Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in his recent statement, emphasized that the overwhelming support Israel
receives from the United States will enable them to continue fighting Hamas until a decisive victory is achieved.
He specifically referred to recent polls that showcase more than 80% of Americans expressing their support for
Israel amid the ongoing Gaza conflict.

Israel’s Countering of Pressure and Mobilization of Support

Prime Minister Netanyahu highlighted the significant role played by his government in countering international pressure to
prematurely end the war and garnering greater support for Israel. He said, “We have significant successes in this
area,” while referring to a recent poll that indicates an impressive 82% of the American public backing Israel.
Netanyahu concluded by stating that such tremendous support strengthens their resolve to persist until complete
victory is achieved.

President Biden’s Warning and US Efforts towards Ceasefire

In contrast to Israel’s confidence, US President Joe Biden cautioned that continuance of Israeli actions jeopardizes their
global support. President Biden expressed hope for a ceasefire to be reached between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, as
a consensus on that matter needs to be achieved soon. Furthermore, a poll conducted by the Associated Press and
Norc in January reported a growing percentage of US adults (about 50%) believing that Israel has exceeded its justified
response to the conflict, up ten percentage points from November.

US Officials Working to Negotiate Ceasefire

The US administration has affirmed that negotiations for a potential ceasefire are actively underway. While details of the
talks and the expected timeline remain undisclosed, White House and State Department officials have confirmed that
both the release of hostages from Gaza and the facilitation of humanitarian aid have been the subject of significant
progress. The White House’s National Security Council spokesperson, John Kirby, acknowledged the ongoing consultation
and stressed the importance of their efforts to establish a lasting ceasefire.

Considerations of a Longer Pause for Sustainable Resolution

The current efforts towards a ceasefire aim to establish a six-week pause, significantly longer than prior temporary halts
in the conflict. John Kirby suggested that this could potentially lead to a more constructive approach in resolving
the conflict sustainably and ending the hostilities. However, the consensus for this pause and ultimate resolution
requires a positive response from Hamas.

Current Situation in Gaza and Ongoing Efforts

The current Israeli offensive in Gaza was initiated as a large-scale air and ground offensive in response to Hamas attacks
that claimed the lives of around 1,200 people and led to the captivity of 253 individuals. Though a number of hostages
have been released subsequently, the Hamas-run health ministry has reported casualties of 29,878 with 96 deaths in
the past 24 hours and a staggering 70,215 individuals wounded in the Gaza Strip alone.
