Netanyahu chastised Defense Minister Yoav Gallad –

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu today removed Yoav Galan from the post of Minister of Defense.

According to information, Israel Katz was proposed as the new Minister of Defense.

The role of foreign minister will be taken over by Gideon Saar, who was previously minister without portfolio.

Netanyahu’s statements

“My highest duty as prime minister of Israel is to ensure Israel’s security and lead us to a decisive victory,” Netanyahu’s statement said.

“During war, more than ever, complete trust between the prime minister and the defense minister is essential. Unfortunately, while initially there was this trust and we achieved a lot in the first months of the campaign, in recent months this trust between me and the defense minister has eroded,” the statement added, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Netanyahu also noted that “serious differences arose between Galland and me regarding the management of the campaign, with these differences accompanied by statements and actions that contradict both the decisions of the government and the cabinet. I made repeated attempts to bridge these gaps, but they only widened. These matters even reached the public sphere in an unacceptable manner and, worse, became known to our enemies, who saw it with pleasure and found benefit in it.”

Pyra Lieberman against Netanyahu

Yisrael Beiteinu party leader Avigdor Lieberman – who has served as foreign minister (2009-2012, 2013-2015) and defense minister (2016-2018) among other positions – tonight strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, accusing him of turning the country in “banana”.

“Instead of putting the security of the country first and prioritizing the welfare of citizens and soldiers, the prime minister has decided to sack the defense minister and start a new round of wartime appointments to serve disgraceful political expediencies,” commented Lieberman to meaningfully underline afterwards that “if a defense minister can be replaced in wartime, a prime minister can also be replaced”.
