Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and opposition leader Gantz are extending their talks for a unified government in the wake of the Corona crisis.
President Reuven Rivlin’s midnight 48-hour period had already passed and the negotiators were still deep in compromises on the final issues. Benjamin Netanyahu and Benny Gantz also wanted to continue their negotiations on Thursday on the modalities for a unity government that is to end the permanent political crisis in Israel after 16 months of interim government, three elections, a permanent election campaign and numerous tactical maneuvers. They had actually aimed for an agreement before the Passover festival a week ago. Now Passover is coming to an end and the two are still struggling to find a solution.
