The day before, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, said that the Defense Forces in the Kherson direction had taken control of the island of Nestriga, which was in the “gray” zone. Speaker of the Operational Command “South” Dmitry Pletenchuk noted that control over this island will significantly improve the quality of counter-sabotage measures.
“This is not about strategy, but about portioned battles, this is more of a tactical significance. Locations that do not allow the enemy to approach our positions, they matter. Considering that the enemy usually uses such locations, this is why this is primarily important for the quality of counter-sabotage measures,” the speaker said on air “Public radio“.

Pletenchuk said that beyond the island of Nestriga there is the mouth of the Dnieper River.
The Ukrainian military continues to hold a bridgehead in the Krynok area in the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, but the Russian army is trying every day to send small groups to storm the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area.
