Neste Latvija to close all contactless self-service stores, “Narvesen” to take over in January

The fuel retailer SIA “Neste Latvija” decided to close all five contactless self-service stores “Neste Easy Deli” last fall, the chairman of the board of SIA “Neste Latvija” Armands Beiziķis told LETA.

At the same time, he stated that “Neste Latvija” has agreed with the food retail company “Narvesen” that in January “Narvesen” will start working in these stores with its own concept stores, which will also have a salesperson.

He reminded that “Neste Latvija” opened its first contactless self-service store in 2021, adding that the volume of goods sold was not such that the company’s investments could be covered.

“In our opinion, it is a very good concept that will definitely develop in the future, but perhaps we entered this market too quickly. A decision was made to close stores in Finland as well,” said Beizikis.

He also said that the technology that can be used in such stores is currently changing very rapidly, which requires new investments, adding that it is likely to take some time for the technology to develop and the best concept can be offered to customers.

“It is also evident that the network of stores must be wide enough, if only for the sake of logistics, and that is why we agreed to cooperate with Narvesen. Likewise, in recent years, when looking for places for new gas stations, we partner with Hesburger and look at so that there is enough space for both of them. “Hesburger” and “Narvesen” also have a good cooperation and they can be together in these rooms and complement each other,” said Beizikis.

Agency LETA already reported that “Neste Latvija” invested more than 500,000 euros in the creation, technologies and security solutions of five self-service stores “Neste Easy Deli”. The company’s five self-service stores were located at gas stations at 30 Lielirbes street and 253 Brīvības gatve, Riga, as well as at the company’s gas stations in Ogre, Salaspils and Tīnūži.

The company “Neste Latvija” was registered in 1993, and its share capital is 15.03 million euros. The owner of “Neste Latvija” is “Neste Affiliate” of the Netherlands, according to “Firmas.lv” information.
