Why did Nicusor Dan let his hair grow?
In the opinion of the journalist Val Vâlcu, the year 2021 is one of great stress for the General Mayor of the Capital. After managing to win a four-year term in an extremely unmanageable mayor’s office, the pressure can be seen both on his face and in his gestures.
The psychological pressure thus pushes Dan to return to a carefree period, most likely in the days when he was a high school kid, with a chic girl. Val Vâlcu considers that he has no excuse for closed barber shops, as it was a year ago when Romanians competed in funny hairstyles or beard lengths due to the pandemic.
Childhood at the age of 51, says Vâlcu
“It is abnormal at the age of 51 for him to start having a childhood”, notes Val Vâlcu. “He is a man with a high position, he has monumental attributions. He has meetings with business people, he has meetings with important people. It is an infantilization which, I suspect, is a psychological result of stress and difficulties “.
“He returns during adolescence when he didn’t have any worries, the pressure of the moment is too great”, Val Vâlcu also explained.
Nicușor Dan was defended from the party, being told that it is not the physical aspect that is important, but the way of thinking. Vâlcu says that this would be correct in the context in which Dan had known his whole life with his hair like that, being his personal signature. However, Nicusor Dan campaigned with his short hair, and many got to know him like that. “Yes, it matters what you think, but when you always look like that, not when you change so suddenly and radically,” the journalist concluded.
