And there are many, not just leftists who don’t know what to do with Meghan McCain’s positions anyway, but also Republicans who reject the idea of a modern, Trump-critical orientation of the party. Because since McCain threw herself into the election campaign for her father as a blogger in 2007, she acted, like her father once did, as a “maverick”, as an independent figure, liked to see herself as a “young, cool Republican”, dreamed of joining the party also to make it attractive «for pro-sex women».
The art historian originally wanted to be a music journalist; After the 2008 presidential election, she worked as a columnist and commentator in various media. In 2016, the Fox network took her, despite Fox presenter Laura Ingraham ridiculing that she was just a privileged, overweight girl with no real life plan. In 2017, McCain then moved to the ABC talk show The View.
Just a nepotism baby?
In the cult show, in which four female co-hosts discuss current affairs, she was the conservative voice. It bothered her that she ran into a wall with her – often unfounded – announcements. She also talks about this in “Bad Republican” (the book title is intended to show how uncomfortable McCain feels in her party) and complains about the brutality with which her co-hosts put her down. It got particularly bad after the birth of her first child in 2020; in the summer of 2021 she stopped at “The View”.
