The “strength of Europe, prosperity, peace and freedom” must not be destroyed by politicians such as Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, AfD leader Alice Weidel or FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl. If the FPÖ is serious about not wanting Öxit, “then please sign it too,” said Meinl-Reisinger, referring to the preamble proposal.

The Neos’ top candidate for the EU, Helmut Brandstätter, also outlined threats to the EU from “outside and within”, referring primarily to Russia and its supporters: If former Russian President Dmitri Medvedev threatens to use nuclear weapons, he will “get it “We applaud the nationalists.” Support for Ukraine is also important for Austria and the EU.
