Neon White is a fast-paced single-player first-person action game that lets you slay demons through the gates of heaven. This is a unique game that combines first person shooting, platform play and puzzle solving. Plus, there’s a community connect system to add the finishing touches, so you can get to know your fellow death slayers better.

It sounds complicated, but it’s actually quite simple: kill all the demons and get to the end of the level as soon as possible. Each level is a brand new short-term challenge, encouraging you to play repeatedly and find the best way to pass the level – we’ve modeled these levels with a unique soul card system. Soul cards will be your weapons and abilities. For example, the Godspeed (good luck) card is a powerful demon-killing rifle, but discarding that card allows for a sprint action. You can slowly spend your time shooting demons to pass the level, but if you want to do everything as fast as possible, you have to sacrifice your weapon.

Neon White’s primary focus is speed, so the biggest concern for us was performance. It was very important to us that the PlayStation 5 version of the game run at 120Hz at all times. For games that pay attention to precision, a high frame rate is a must. We also made great use of the system SSD to reduce many read times. The waiting time to restart the level must be as fast as possible without being annoying. After all, if you want to surpass your friends’ achievements in the leaderboard, players constantly have to restart the level.

Neon White also uses the PS5’s adaptive triggers, giving you a unique feel to shoot or discard each soul card. The haptic feedback of the controller also allows the player to have an additional feel. You’ll get a corresponding feel for sprinting on water and get subtle feedback when you successfully land a demon shot in the distance. Our goal is not only to make you feel cool, but also to develop a sixth sense. We will turn you into a speedrunner.

Before taking down Heaven’s Gate, here are some tips to pass the level as best as possible and get your trump card:

Discard cards to achieve the goal

It’s tempting to stack ammo and push your damage output to max. However, your main goal is speed, not damage per second. So I’ll give you a tip: if you can, discard cards so you can moveAndAlso kill enemies. Dropping the Purify bomb might be enough to kill four enemies at once, but why not try jumping on them at once to give yourself a boost?

aim with the gyroscope

Neon White supports gyro aiming on the DualSense wireless controller, and I personally play it that way all the time. Gyro aiming can take some getting used to, but it’s worth learning as it gives you finer control right from the start of the level.

Katana tricks

Neon White has several secret abilities that will give you an edge over others. The katana card that White starts with isn’t very powerful on its own, but it can be used to knock back many of the enemy’s projectile attacks for extra damage. Even a successful katana block speeds White up slightly, and the effect is more pronounced when White is in the air.

Tips and tricks aside, the best way to experience this game is to try it for yourself. Neon White has everything you need to climb the leaderboards, regardless of your experience. If you don’t care about leaderboards, go play the first mission. Believe me, you will definitely be interested in the ranking after that.

“Neon White” will be available on PS5 and PS4 on December 13th.
