A neo-Nazi group demonstrated in front of the New England Holocaust Memorial in Boston two Sundays ago, an incident that the regional director of the local ADL rated from “disgusting and despicable.”
Members of the white supremacist group National Socialist Club gathered May 23 in front of the Holocaust Memorial in Metropolis Corridor Plaza, where they posed holding flags for a photo uploaded to social media, according to the Boston Herald.
The photo was republished on Twitter by Robert Tristan, the ADL’s New England regional director.
“Disgusting and despicable to see the neo-Nazi National Socialist Club on the sacred ground of the #NewEngland Holocaust Memorial yesterday,” he tweeted.
Trestan told the Herald: “This is the kind of thing they like to do. They like to be provocative and they want to spread hatred, anti-Semitism, and they try to incite people ”.
Trestan added: “You purposely chose to go to the Holocaust Memorial, a place that is sacred to the Jews of the Boston area, to basically spread the message that the Holocaust did not happen and to send the message that you don’t belong here. ”.
The neo-Nazi group recently spray-painted anti-Semitic and racist graffiti in Nashua, New Hampshire, reading “Death to Israel” and “Keep New England white.”
“At a time when we are seeing a dramatic increase in anti-Semitic violence against Jews, this is concerning. It is worrying that it may incite or inspire other people to attack Jews or other groups, ”Trestan said.
