Nent secures WSL rights to Viaplay in nine territories

European broadcasting giant Nordic Entertainment Group (Nent Group) has announced a range of women’s football rights deals for its live coverage service Viaplay, which covers nine territories.

These include an exclusive contract for the Premier League Women’s Football League (WSL) tournament, which consists of two matches in each round and will run until 2023/24. End of season.

The transactions announced to coincide with International Women’s Day also include the Italian A series; Elite Frauen Bundesliga from Germany; Danish Premier League, Gjensidige Kvindeliga; And select matches from the Spanish League Iberdrola.

All agreements cover Viewplay’s nine active or soon-to-be active regions, namely Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

Series A coverage has already begun and two matches will be included in each round, in addition to the semi-finals and final rounds of the Italian League elimination cup.

For Iberdrola, up to 35 matches per season will be shown on Viaplay, guaranteeing Barcelona, ​​Real Madrid, Athletic Club, Madrid CFF and CD Santa Teresa until 2022/23.

Gjensidige Quindeliga’s coverage starts next season, with all games live on Viaplay, some games until 2023/24. Danish line TV for the day.

The Frauen Bundesliga is already served in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Iceland. This coverage will extend to the Baltic region and Poland, where the transaction, which ends in 2021/22. At the end of the season, 44 to 60 season games are available.
