Nent buys damallsvenska tv rights

A month has passed since FC Rosengård took back the Swedish Championship gold from BK Häcken, Skåne’s seventh gold since 2010. Now it is clear that the damallsvenskan will have a new home on TV from next season.

Nent Group, which includes the channels TV3, TV6 and the streaming service Viaplay, has bought the rights to show the country’s highest football series.

For the past two seasons, Aftonbladet has owned the rights to show Damallsvenskan. But now Nent is taking over.

According to P4 Kalmar, the new agreement is a financial success for the clubs. The channel states that the agreement entails joint income of around SEK 20 million for the clubs in damallsvenskan.

Players: “Waited a long time”

Hammarby’s Madelen Janogy is pleased with the news that Nent will take over the broadcasting rights to the damallsvenskan.

– It means a lot in the long run. More people get the opportunity to watch the matches, and for us who play and the clubs are becoming more and more professional. We have been waiting for this for a long time.

She is supported by BK Häcken’s striker Stina Blackstenius, who was recently named the season’s most valuable player.

– It means a lot to Swedish women’s football. An investment that will do a lot for us players but especially for clubs and everyone who wants to follow our matches. Exactly what is needed to take the next step in development, she says.

This is how the damallsvenskan will be broadcast next season

Viaplay will show all matches from the damallsvenskan next year. The matches will be shown in the Nordic countries, the Baltics, the Netherlands and Poland.

Two matches per round will be shown on TV6, where the matches will be framed by a studio broadcast either from the arena or from a TV studio.

– We want to be involved in creating what the future holds. This makes me extra happy and proud. We can be involved and contribute to something that has a very bright future. Women’s football will grow as an audience and TV sport, says Nent’s CEO Anders Jensen.
