Nenagh Ormond RFC Launches Fundraising Drive for Ground Development
Nenagh, Ireland – October 26, 2024 – Members of Nenagh Ormond Rugby Football Club (RFC) are rallying community support for an ambitious new fundraising campaign aimed at enhancing their facilities at Lisatunny. As the club embarks on its next phase of development, they are calling on local supporters, families, and businesses to contribute to this important initiative.
A Club on the Rise
In recent seasons, Nenagh Ormond RFC has witnessed significant growth both on and off the field. With unprecedented participation numbers across all levels—from mini rugby (U7) to the Senior team—the club is experiencing a boom in popularity. Competing in the Energia AIL Division 1B, Nenagh Ormond stands among the top 20 rugby clubs in Ireland, a testament to its vibrant community and robust grassroots programs.
“Having 140 years of history behind us and seeing our numbers surge is both exciting and motivating,” commented a club spokesperson. “We are committed to ensuring that our facilities match our ambitions and the growing needs of our players.”
Major Developments So Far
The Development Committee has led an impressive series of improvements at the Lisatunny grounds. Financing has primarily come from the sale of the club’s original home in Tyone, alongside grants received from Sports Capital Grants. So far, the club has successfully completed Phase 1 of its development, which includes:
- A full 3G all-weather playing field
- A half-pitch sized 3G training area
- Gym upgrades
- Refurbished changing facilities
- Upgraded LED floodlighting for improved visibility and energy efficiency
- Resurfaced and repainted parking facilities
These enhancements have laid a solid foundation for the club to build upon; however, significant work remains to be done.
Exciting Plans for Phase 2
In acknowledgement of the club’s rapid growth, Nenagh Ormond RFC is now gearing up for Phase 2 of their development project, which will involve:
- Construction of additional changing rooms next to the state-of-the-art 3G field and refurbished gym. These new facilities will provide separate male and female spaces and incorporate accessible changing areas, fostering inclusivity in the expanding girls’ and women’s rugby programs.
- Renovations to the existing clubhouse, including comprehensive electrical rewiring and an interior upgrade for enhanced safety and comfort.
"Our Future, Your Legacy" Fundraising Campaign
To fund these vital developments sustainably, the club has launched the “Our Future, Your Legacy” fundraising drive. Supporters are invited to purchase personalized bricks to be included on a commemorative glass wall that will be integrated into the new facilities.
Individuals can purchase personal bricks for €250, while businesses can secure corporate bricks for €500. This initiative not only helps raise funds but offers a chance to leave a lasting legacy at the club.
“This is a unique opportunity for anyone with ties to Nenagh Ormond RFC to become a permanent part of our club’s history,” added the spokesperson. “We have created countless memories and friendships here, and now you can contribute to building a brighter future for the generations to come.”
