Nenagh Ormond RFC, proud stewards of one of Ireland’s historic rugby clubs, is calling on the community to support its ambitious new fundraising initiative as the club embarks on the next phase of development at its Lisatunny grounds. With significant growth in participation over the last few seasons, the club aims to build upon the impressive facilities already established, creating a top-class venue that meets the needs of its members and supporters.
A Legacy of Growth
Over its 140-year history, Nenagh Ormond RFC has seen remarkable strides both on and off the playing field. The club boasts unprecedented playing numbers, now competing in the Energia All-Ireland League Division 1B, positioning itself among the top 20 clubs in Ireland. This growth is fueled by a vibrant grassroots program that starts with mini-level teams (U7s) and extends to the Senior team.
The Development Committee at Nenagh has recognized the necessity of matching these increased player numbers with state-of-the-art facilities. Significant progress has already been made, including the installation of a full 3G all-weather pitch, a half-pitch training area, an upgraded gym, and refurbished changing facilities.
"From the sale of our original home in Tyone to grant assistance through Sports Capital Grants, we’ve laid the foundation for our future," said a club representative. "However, as we celebrate what we’ve accomplished, we acknowledge there’s still much work to be done."
The Vision for Phase 2
Looking to capitalize on the momentum, Nenagh Ormond RFC is prioritizing the construction of additional changing rooms adjacent to the new 3G field. The new facilities will provide separate areas for male and female players and accessible changing rooms, reinforcing the club’s commitment to expanding women’s and girls’ rugby.
In addition to the changing rooms, Phase 2 will involve refurbishing the clubhouse with a complete electrical rewiring and interior upgrades to elevate the comfort and safety of all patrons and members.
"This project is essential not only for our current members but for the next generation of players who will walk through our doors," emphasized a member of the Development Committee.
“Our Future, Your Legacy” Fundraising Drive
To fund this ambitious Phase 2 of the development project, Nenagh Ormond RFC is launching the “Our Future, Your Legacy” fundraising drive. The club invites supporters, families, businesses, and community groups to contribute by purchasing a commemorative brick on the glass patron’s wall that will be part of the new infrastructure.
- Personal bricks can be acquired for €250.
- Corporate bricks are available for €500.
Your name—or your business’s name—will be permanently inscribed in the fabric of this exciting development, making it a lasting tribute to the local rugby community.
"We have created experiences and friendships that last a lifetime, and this initiative offers everyone an opportunity to leave a mark," added the representative. "It’s a one-time opportunity to be part of our club’s future."
