Xavier Naidoo, Michael Wendler – and now Nena: Is the singer finally joining the ranks of celebrities who believe conspiracies more than serious information? With her statements at a concert in Berlin at the end of July, she made headlines because she criticized the hygiene measures to combat the corona pandemic. Now comes the next step.
Gabriele Susanne Kerner, who made a career as Nena and with the band Nena, celebrated a party at the weekend in Baden-Württemberg with people like Bodo Schiffmann, a well-known corona denier, conspiracy ideologist and one of the greats of the “maverick” scene. Videos from the event at Katzenbachsee, which is between Heilbronn and Pforzheim, are circulating on social media. Here you can see how the “99 Luftballons” interpreter arrives at the scene – and is enthusiastically received by the organizers.
“QAnon” conspiracy cult also plays a role
As the alliance “Filderstadt Nazifrei” reports on Twitter, besides Schiffmann, other well-known conspiracy propagators came together at the party. Accordingly, the festival was organized by Friedemann “Mäckle” Mack, who is said to have given it the title “Q-Midsummer Night’s Dream”. An indication that the conspiracy movement “QAnon” also played a role. The right-wing extremist cult from the USA spreads the narrative that a worldwide, ominous elite kidnap children and drink their blood in order to be able to stay young forever.
Mack, who comes from Güglingen in Baden-Württemberg, operates a telegram channel on which he disseminates citizen theses and incites against corona vaccinations. “Filderstadt Nazifree” characterizes him as an “ardent QAnon disciple and radical conspiracy ideologist”. It is Mack who greets Nena on the now popular videos and brings her to the microphone. The 61-year-old then shouts: “Hello you sweeties! It’s nice to be with you!”
A request from t-online about how Mack got this invitation and why she attended the meeting of well-known conspiracy believers has so far left Nena unanswered.
“Nena on the right path to the new world”
The local scene, on the other hand, celebrated the singer’s participation. Howls can be heard on the videos. Mack also cheers and explains to the audience: “We greet dear Nena! She has come to us to celebrate with us. She does not come to sing, but to be happy with us. Enjoy the new world, be funny and happy. ” Nena will also spend the night on site and have a tent with her, explains the organizer.
Then, according to Mack, everyone wanted to “have breakfast with the folding chair tomorrow morning (…)”. He goes on to say: “Let us be grateful that a Nena also supports us on the right path into the new world. And that will be awesome, I’ll tell you.”
Which new world the man is talking about is unclear. According to information from “Filderstadt Nazifrei”, however, it is clear that in addition to the “lateral thinker” scene, people from the Reich Citizens’ Movement were also present at the event. Accordingly, Andreas Heiko Müller took part, who repeatedly attracts attention with inflammatory videos and spreads right-wing extremist messages. Was Nena aware of who she was gathering there with?
On Twitter, users comment critically on the singer’s performance. “This should finally end her career” can be read there, for example, and another explains: “At last she can unrestrainedly swirl along between #querrulants, # Reichsbürger, #Schiffmann, #Neonazis and other enemies of democracy.”
After all, Nena is far from making headlines with her connections to the corona denier scene. After she called on the stage at a concert at the end of July to disregard the locally applicable distance rules, several organizers canceled planned concerts with her. She had also previously expressed clear criticism of the Corona rules, but distanced herself from being a “lateral thinker”.
Should the singer take a position on the request from t-online, we will add her statements here.
