FORT WORTH, TX: RJ Nembhard had 20 points, Jaedon LeDee converted a three-runner game with 2.2 seconds left and TCU beat Oklahoma State 81-78 on Wednesday night.
Mike Miles scored 18 points, Charles O’Bannon added 15 and Kevin Samuel 14 for TCU (10-7, 3-5 Big 12).
Miles made a layup to make 78 – all with 17 seconds left. Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham, rather than playing for the last shot, ran onto the court and missed a contested layup five seconds later. LeDee fled, took an exit pass from Taryn Todd, and was fouled while putting in a drive. His free kick crowned the score.
Cunningham’s potential equalizer on the half court at the end of the time limit.
Cunningham, a 6-foot-8 freshman goaltender who is likely the top pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, scored 15 of his 19 points in the final 10 minutes for Oklahoma State (11-5, 4-5 ). Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe added 17 points and 10 rebounds. The 6-foot-7 rookie has three doubles doubles in the last four games.
Cunningham, the conference’s top scorer (18.1) at the start of the game, picked up two early fouls and played just eight scoreless minutes in the first half and faced chants from Overrated! from the limited crowd.
After LeDee layup to give TCU a nine-point lead with 11 minutes remaining, OSU scored 15 of the next 21 points, including eight by Cunningham, to reach 64-64 about six minutes later.
There were five more ties and four header changes from there, the last of which came on the winner from LeDee.
