Nemanja Bjelica at Fenerbahçe Beko – Fenerbahçe Sports Club

Our Fenerbahçe Beko Men’s Basketball Team has reached a two-year agreement with Nemanja Bjelica (2.09, 1988), who wore our jersey between 2013 and 2015, and who recently won the NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors, one of the NBA teams, and is considered one of the most important forwards of European basketball.

Who is Nemanja Bjelica?

Born on May 9, 1988 in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, Nemanja Bjelica started playing basketball in Austria’s Arkadia Traiskirchen team in the 2007-2008 season.

After this experience, Bjelica returned to his country in the summer of 2008 and signed with Red Star and worked for this team for two seasons.

The successful player was selected by the Washington Wizards with the 35th pick in the NBA Draft in 2010. Nemanja transferred to Spain’s Saski Baskonia team in the summer of 2010 and played for this team for three seasons.
Nemanja Bjelica transferred to Fenerbahçe Ülker under the management of Zeljko Obradovic in the 2013-14 season.

While Nemanja put forward a great performance during the two seasons he wore our jersey, he won the President’s Cup in 2013 and the Basketball Super League in 2014 with our team. Our Serbian star was one of the most influential names of Fenerbahçe, who had the success of playing the Final Four in the EuroLeague for the first time in the 2014-15 season. Bjelica, who scored 12.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.3 steals in the EuroLeague, where he played in 29 games, was the MVP of the regular season in the EuroLeague, and also found himself in the best five of the season in the EuroLeague.

Deciding to try his luck in the NBA after his wonderful season, Bjelica signed with Minnesota Timberwolves and left our team in the summer of 2015. Bjelica, who played in Minnesota between 2015-18 and Sacramento between 2018-21, transferred to the Miami Heat in March 2021.

Lastly, our star player wore the Golden State Warriors jersey in the 2021-22 season and enjoyed the NBA championship with this team.

Nemanja Bjelica played in 102 EuroLeague and 449 NBA games during his career.

The successful striker has also played for the Serbian National Team many times since 2009. Bjelica won silver medals with his country’s national team at the 2009 European Championships and 2014 World Cups.

Nemanja Bjelica is returning to Fenerbahçe as the “NBA champion”, from which he left as the EuroLeague MVP. Nemanja Bjelica, one of the names that marked the last period of European basketball and attracting attention with his versatile game, will be one of Fenerbahçe Beko’s greatest trump cards in the 2022-23 season.
