The Colombian Women’s team comes from playing against Chile and also, on Thursday it was reported that our country will host the Copa América in 2022. After finishing the friendly match and giving the news about the continental competition, Nelson Abadía, top leader of the women’s teams, in all their categories, gave his impression on these two issues.

The senior team faced Chile on Thursday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 26, after these two matches, Abadía mentioned in a press conference that: “Fortunately there was television and people could see that they were two interesting games by our team, which showed their style and identity of the game. The idea was for the players to regain that confidence and security in football ”.

One of the most significant casualties both for the national team and for Deportivo Cali, current champion of the BetPlay League, which is close to participating in the Copa Libertadores, is that of Manuela Pavi, who suffered a serious injury recently in training.

About Pavi he said: “It hurt me a lot because I have been summoning that player for three years and it was a fortuitous play without any intention. The cruciate ligament was ruptured, it had no impact on the meniscus or the collaterals, but that fact gives him a minimum of eight months on the outside. We stand behind it. I told him to concentrate on his recovery, that with me he returns to the national team ”.

Last Wednesday, the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) notified the Colombian Federation that the country would be in charge of organizing the Copa América Femenina in 2022. “This is very good news, something extraordinary for women’s football. There is no doubt that the same players have achieved it with their effort and ability. That is a merit of what they have done over time ”, added Abadía.

It should be noted that the tricolor has international matches and Abadía is aware of this situation. “We have been taking advantage of the FIFA dates, tested players, we evaluated them. The idea is to have a team ready for the Copa América. Fortunately it will be here and we are going to put together a large payroll ”.

In addition, he explained that next year the selection will have a more active calendar. “The objective is to qualify for the World Cup. We have to fight as much as possible, it is time for our team to obtain titles. He has already tried it at the Pan American Games and I am convinced that women’s football, as it has been progressing, is going to have important achievements in the short and medium term ”.

Within the press conference he also spoke about the sports performance of girls and women soccer players in the country. “Our football has grown enormously and it is the work of the training clubs. The support that Dif Fútbol has given has been important because this year all those players have had training competition ”.

And finally he mentioned that: “We need more competition in high performance and that Dimayor has to give us. Having the Copa América, it would be ideal for the tournament to begin the first semester and be ending between May and June so that the players arrive with a good rhythm of competition. “
