Nela Lopušanová and Slovak Women’s U18 Ice Hockey Team Competing in World Championship in Switzerland

BRATISLAVA – At the end of this week, the Slovak women’s ice hockey team under 18 will start their performance at the world championship in Zug, Switzerland.

On Sunday at noon, the team of coach Gabriela Sabolová will play against her peers from the USA. Before going to the championship venue, he will attend a final training camp in Bratislava from Tuesday to Thursday.

The young Slovaks are scheduled to meet at the Vlad Dzuril Winter Stadium in Ružinov on Tuesday until 4:00 p.m. There are 22 female hockey players in the final nomination for the World Championships. Most of the girls are active in the domestic women’s competition, but the squad also includes players with experience from the international EWHL and four legionnaires.

The reinforcements from North America are forwards Nela Lopušanová and Michaela Sophia Paulínyová and goalkeeper Lívia Debnárová. Alexandra Mateičková from the Finnish league strengthened the defense. The portal hockeyslovakia.sk informed about it.

The U18 Women’s World Championship in Switzerland will begin on Saturday, January 6. The Slovak women will play their first match in the basic B-group on Sunday at 12:00 CET against the favored American women. On Monday at 16:00 they will challenge the Swedes and on Wednesday at 16:00 they will compete against the Swiss. All teams are guaranteed a place in the quarter-finals, which will take place on Thursday 11 January.
