Neither a general practitioner nor an assistant will remain in Vértesboglár

Another settlement in the area, where it will be difficult to provide family doctor care in the future, after Szár – related to Újbarok – and Vértesacsa, the previous doctor, Péter Gerstner, is also retiring in Boglár, and for now there is no one to take over the district in his place. Since it is almost impossible to find a permanent doctor in a small settlement like Vértesboglár these days, the “recipe that has worked until now” remains: the municipality, as well as the aforementioned neighboring municipalities, tries to solve the problem by substitution.

The substitute doctor must be paid by the municipality and must conclude the contract. But it’s not that simple either! The Boglár assistant, who has already worked with a pension, will also finish his work. As we learned from István Sztányi, the mayor, this also came to light this week as a “sudden blow”. It was said at the board meeting that it seems that an agreement has been reached with Ágnes Katonka, a family doctor from Zámóly, who would treat patients in Vártesboglár as a substitute doctor for 10 hours a week from January 1, 2024. However, there is no assistant, and the local government could only conclude a replacement GP contract with an existing local assistant. Of course, they are working on a solution, although the mayor is not very optimistic, since – as we wrote above – it has not been possible to solve the family doctor issue in the surrounding settlements for a long time either.
