Ever heard of NEIMY? She is the singer who ennobled “Dancing In The Moonlight” from Jubel with her voice. But NEIMY can also do it solo: She proves this with her latest single “LIMBO”, which was released on December 11th. We immediately fell in love with the trendy catchy tune. Therefore we would like to introduce you to the song and the artist behind it.
NEIMY
Just a few months ago we reported to you about the previous single “Like Tyson”, which was a catchy 80s retro track. The Swedish singer-songwriter Ellen Falkas is behind the pseudonym NEIMY. With more than five million monthly listeners on Spotify, the electro-indie-pop artists are one of Sweden’s hottest performers. In a way she owes the boost to her career to The Chainsmokers, because they finally discovered their demo version of their song “I’ve Learned”, which later landed on the soundtrack for the Italian film “Succede”. In 2018 the artist should experience her breakthrough after a few singles when she released the King Harvest classic “Dancing In The Moonlight” with the Swedish producer duo Jubel. The cover version, which was rediscovered by British radio DJs this year and went viral, has now made it into the singles charts worldwide and has more than 175 million Spotify plays. In addition to solo releases, various collabs with EDM artists have appeared, for example several times with Lucas Estrada.
LIMBO
“LIMBO” was created in a speed writing session and was written by NEIMY herself with her co-author and producer Eric Wictor. According to the singer, the topline was finished within an hour and the lyrics were written within a short time. The lyrics are about being stuck in a place where you don’t feel comfortable and where you feel too much control and persecution – regardless of whether it is a relationship, the workplace or your own thinking. In terms of music, the high-quality arrangement perfectly reflects the sound of NEIMY: Unadapted and timeless indie pop, which is characterized by its danceable beat and distinctive guitar and string sounds. NEIMY’s characteristic and changeable voice has absolute recognition value and brings the memorable composition of the uptempo track to an even higher level.
Conclusion: With “LIMBO” NEIMY proves their musical versatility and knocks out an indie pop grenade suitable for radio, which, thanks to its catchiness, could soon be running up and down everywhere. A clear recommendation on our part for fans of current music. We wish the talented artist every success with her new single and are already looking forward to her new songs in the coming year!
