Neil Warnock reflects on Mo Salah’s recent form

Former Premier League manager Neil Warnock has opened up on Mo Salah’s recent form and believes tonight’s clash between Manchester City and Liverpool at the Etihad will be “fascinating”.

The Egyptian king has been goalless in his last seven open games, with his only goal of that period coming from the penalty spot against Brighton last month.

“I think it’s one of those things” Warnock told Sky Sports News (via HITC).

“I look at him and he doesn’t lack effort.

“He was probably the best player there has been in terms of strikers in England in the last two years.

“I think the disappointment wouldn’t have helped at the World Cup (Egypt didn’t qualify). He came back and you expect him to go now. Some of his remarks.

You don’t need to worry about the shape of our number 11 just yet.

He is still the top scorer in the Premier League with 20 goals and has scored a further eight goals in the Champions League.

Today wouldn’t be a bad time for him to get back into shape though and we’ll need the lads to be at our best to make sure we come out of the game with something.

The duel with Pep Guardiola’s team will certainly be fascinating.

They’re the top two teams in the league, if not Europe, and that almost guarantees an exciting game.

A win for both sides would make them clear favorites to go ahead and clinch the title, while a draw would suit the Cityzens more as they would retain the top spot with just seven league games left.

We’ll find them in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley next weekend, but take every game to focus on tonight’s clash for now.
