“Neil Diamond Takes Five Years to Come to Terms with Parkinson’s Diagnosis” | Backbite

Neil Diamond can only now accept that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2018. The singer tells this in a fragment of the American TV program CBS Sunday Morning which airs on Sunday.

“I think the realization has only come in the last few weeks. I don’t like it, but this is how I am. This is what I have to accept,” says the 82-year-old singer in the fragment shared on Friday. “I’m willing to do that. This is what I have to live with and I have to make the best of it. And I do.”

The American, known for songs like Sweet Caroline in Beautiful Noise, believes that his diagnosis also has positive sides. “Some kind of calm has come over me. Everything has become a lot quieter and I like that,” says Diamond. “I also like myself better. I prefer being to people and to myself.”
