Neighbours Returns to Screen via Amazon Freevee: 400 New Episodes to Air in UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada

From Monday 18 September 2023, the ‘Neighbours’ will be shown on the screen again. Although via the streaming service ‘Amazon Freevee’ and for the time being only in the UK, the US, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. A new episode will be online every day. In total, it would be no less than 400 new episodes. Neighbors Paul Robinson, Karl Kennedy, Susan Kennedy and Toadie Rebecchi will return.

For a moment it seemed as if the series had breathed its last after 37 years. The British channel Channel 5 had turned off the money and the contract was terminated. That caused a shock wave. Petitions followed with tens of thousands of signatures. The opening tune of ‘Neighbours’ even knocked Ed Sheeran off the top spot in the UK charts. Negotiations were therefore started with new lenders, but no one seemed interested in taking over ‘Neighbours’. Until ‘Amazon Freevee’, Amazon’s free streaming service (not available in Belgium), announced in November last year that it would bring the residents of Ramsay Street back to television. Filming resumed in April 2022.

With us, VTM2 broadcasts the series, currently only the old episodes. It is not yet known whether the new episodes will also come to our country.
