The years have significantly damaged the La Rinconada bridge, in the commune of Paihuano. Hundreds of people pass through this structure every day, who have been waiting for the opportunity to improve their main access route.
This is how, through an initiative presented by the municipality, and financed by the Regional Government, this 14-meter long bridge will be intervened.
After knowing the details from the Mayor Pablo Herman and the Mayor (s), Luis Cortes, the neighbor Ana María Rodríguez said that “this is spectacular because we needed it. I was born, raised, married here and I have always seen this Bridge the same, they have only patched it up and here there is a lot of tourism and people are afraid of going through this bridge as it is ”.
During the informative meeting with the neighbors, on the bridge itself, Mayor Pablo Herman explained that “today we came to support a very old requirement from the neighbors, such as the construction of a new bridge for the La Rinconada sector. They are about $ 100 million and the municipality and next week would be in a position to enter with the project to its council. The repairs on the old bridge were no longer taking long, there was insecurity and, therefore, this is not a remodeling, but a new bridge ”.
The project will have a positive impact on the quality of life of more than 1,300 inhabitants of the sector, who thanks to this bridge can cross the descent of the Quebrada de Paihuano, however, its wear and tear is currently a risk for the community.
From the municipality, the Mayor (s), Luis Cortés, added that “this sector of La Rinconada was abandoned for a long time and today we have different improvements, I feel this is the icing on the cake, that the Mayor in person has come to us. confirm the allocation of more than $ 97 million to build a new Bridge, which meets the quality standards and safety measures that the residents of the sector deserve ”.
A bridge that has a resistance capacity of up to 8 tons, resisting a significant traffic of cargo trucks. Its materiality is made up of eucalyptus logs and it has an oak wood rolling platform, with a width of almost 5 meters without a road for pedestrians, which today represents a danger in traffic and in cars.
