Neighbors of the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón, in Havana, detained and beat a man who allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old boy and was discovered by residents of the area.
The user Harlen Hernández, who shared videos of what happened, pointed out that the subject would have physically assaulted the minor with the intention of taking his cell phone.
“Look at this cheeky man, we caught him here in San Miguel today, who hit a 12-year-old boy to take his phone away from him,” reads the brief publication.
The images show the subject being carried away by several of the neighbors, before one of these began to hit him. After that, several others approached to make clear their dissatisfaction with his actions against the minor.
A Facebook user, who claimed to be the minor’s grandmother, was upset after what happened, pointing out that more and more people prefer to steal instead of working on the Island.
“That happened to my grandson, all these criminals who want to live off the sweat of others, but now they throw him out for a year and he’s out on the street. Until the laws in this country change, there is not going to be peace,” he added.
Several other netizens were pleased with what happened, noting that if there were more cases like this, criminals would think twice before attempting something illegal.
“I wish this would happen often, and that they would catch them all and destroy their lives, because the shot will take away their desire to steal”; “He deserves it, for being an abuser” and “That must be published, so that it serves as a lesson”, were some of the comments made.
Other users pointed out the high level of insecurity that currently exists on the Island, stating that it is not safe to walk the streets due to the robberies that have been reported in recent months.
It is important to note that this is not the first time that a crime of this nature committed against a minor has been reported, because last Sunday, it was reported that two men assaulted a 13-year-old girl, also in the capital.
The girl’s mother, identified in networks as Elizabeth Valdés, indicated that the minor was on her way home after having gone to a study house, when she was intercepted on 52nd Street, between 23 and 25 of the Playa municipality.
The subjects threatened her and took her cell phone, but not before causing a small injury to her hand with a sharp object.
