Neighborhood shocked after find dead woman: ‘resident has been missing for two weeks’

THE HAGUE –
The police are investigating whether the body that was found on Saturday in a house on Wognumstraat in the Leyenburg district of The Hague belongs to the 35-year-old resident. According to local residents, the woman has been missing for two weeks. In connection with the discovery of the body, a 26-year-old man from Zoetermeer was arrested on Sunday. His role is being investigated.

The neighborhood is in shock when residents see the black fences in their street on Sunday morning. “I am completely upset,” says a woman who wants to remain anonymous.

In a bathrobe with a cup of coffee, they hang out of the window to see what exactly is going on. Others have gathered at the deposition. “They were here around 8:30 am this morning,” says a neighbor, referring to the police investigating how the woman died.

Trace investigation

Inside the gates are the buses of the police forensic specialists. There is a white tent in front of one of the porches. The research focuses on a house on the first floor. In the course of the morning, the police will receive help from the specialists of the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI).

In varying composition, groups of local residents gather near the barrier. The neighborhood suspects that the victim is a woman who has been missing for a little over two weeks. “Her family has not been in contact with her since October 9,” one of them says.

Break relationship

The story goes that she wanted to end her relationship with her boyfriend and that the two often had big arguments. ‘That could be heard all over the street’, according to a neighbor. A photo of the woman is circulating on Facebook with a call to look out for her. “We are very concerned about her,” reads the appeal. “Have you seen her, please let me know.”

The police have been in the street more often in recent weeks. Saturday last week. “Then they researched the porch.” And this Saturday they also conducted research, says a local resident. ‘From 2.30 pm to 12.30 am,’ he estimates. And then they guarded the property all night.
