Local residents around Mataramstraat in Oost are shocked by the fatal split that happened last night. A 37-year-old man has died after being stabbed at a home. A 32-year-old suspect was arrested a short time later in Tidorestaat a little further away.
“Our control room received a bad report around 9pm about a man in a bloody shirt in Tidorestaat,” said a police spokesman. The man was arrested and is being held suspected of having been killed.
“I was sleeping but my boyfriend was looking out the window every hour,” said a local resident. He saw a lot of police, including an ambulance. Then they sent a big ship here.”
The police explain why the vessel was on the street: “That is our emergency vessel, which comes to the scene when we are investigating a fatal victim, as it is right now,” a spokesperson said.
Police are still unable to say what the relationship between the two men is. A local resident said the victim was known in the area. She is upset by the news. “Things are going well, but we are surprised that something can happen so close,” she says.
