Rotterdam – Two boys from the neighborhood surprised Feyenoord captain Lutsharel Geertruida yesterday with a cheerful message in his parking garage. The two wanted to thank ‘Luts’ for a wonderful day that ended with a cup victory.
We don’t know what time Geertruida got home last night after all the festivities. Jules and Pol were already in bed by then. But they could dream happily about the cup celebration, knowing that their favorite Feyenoord player must have looked surprised when he arrived home in the parking garage of the Zalmhaven Tower. Jules and Pol had left him a thank you note with sidewalk chalk.

Lutsharel Geertruida started the cup final against NEC yesterday as captain of the club he has been a fan of since his youth in the Peperklip in the Feijenoord district. When first captain Gernot Trauner came in after a long injury, he was given the captain’s armband. But after the 1-0 victory had been won, the two decided to be the first to lift the KNVB Cup together.

Jules and Pol had had just as exciting a day as all the other Feyenoorders in Rotterdam. After all, the cup victory did not happen automatically. Lutsharel Geertruida was one of the men who kept the team going with his tenacity, even with one player less.
