San Jose del Cabo, Baja California Sur. More than three years after the cancellation of the flight between Los Cabos and London, tourism authorities continue in negotiations to recover this important connection between the two cities, as reported by Baja California Sur (BCS) Tourism and Economy Undersecretary, Fernando Ojeda.
The state official said in an interview with Diario El Independiente that this flight was lost during the arrival of the coronavirus in 2019, which forced many countries and cities to suspend operations to reduce the risk of infection.
Today the flight has not been restarted, but the efforts to start it continue to increase the connection between the entity and Europe.
“Yes, we continue to work in this English market and we continue to work with the airline, but in an air link of this nature we have to look for him not a company -it’s a normal airline, but one that offers a more comprehensive and complete service. this will give us more time as customer catalogs are done well in advance but we will continue,” he said.
He explained to this morning that negotiations with national or international airlines to open a new route could take at least two years. It depends on the aircraft, the airline’s capacity, market research and other factors.
Finding new routes is responding to the need for other markets and not relying on one city alone as the main source of visitors and therefore the income it brings.
“In addition to the international tourism that we already have from the United States and Canada, our main distributors, we must look for strategies so that they do not depend on a single market and this is which has been done over the years through the existing trusts. this part that is “dedicated to opening new attractive routes for Mexico and Baja California Sur,” concluded the official.
