Negotiations Begin for Raw Milk Prices Increase in 2021

Dairies and producers begin negotiations to set raw milk prices for this year.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that the Dairy Promotion Association, which is composed of dairy farmers and industry officials, will hold a subcommittee on the 9th to decide on the increase.

This year, we are discussing a price increase in the range of 69 to 104 won per liter of crude oil.

The Dairy Farming Promotion Association raw milk price negotiation subcommittee operates for one month from the 1st of the month following the date of the announcement of the milk production cost by Statistics Korea, and when the subcommittee sets the price, it is a principle to reflect it from August 1st of that year after passing the resolution of the Dairy Farming Promotion Association’s board of directors.

However, last year, as the price negotiations coincided with the dairy system reform, the first meeting was held in mid-September due to disagreements between dairy farmers and the industry, and the increase was reflected from October 16.

As the production cost of dairy farms has increased due to the recent increase in feed prices, price hikes are unavoidable.
