Neemias Queta: Growing On and Off the Court in the NBA

After completing his second season in the NBA, Neemias Queta explains what has changed since the day he was chosen by the Sacramento Kings in the 2021 draft.

“I was very emotional at the time. I’m a different Nehemiah on the field, but off the field I manage to keep the essence and the same fundamentals I grew up with. The hardest part of this second year? Knowing that I have a flight, at the last minute, to go to the first team or to go back to the G League team, having to adjust the game plan at different times, but that’s all part of my growth. I have been faced with more difficult situations than last year and I have to know how to deal with them», said the Portuguese post in an interview with the Portuguese Basketball Federation.

Also ending is the two-way contract (can play in the NBA and G League) with the Sacramento Kings. Neemias is confident that in October he will sign a regular contract with an NBA team: “It’s a matter of time before that happens. I’m focused on doing my job here, but I’m sure that moment will come.”

He scored 38 points and managed 18 rebounds against the Santa Cruz Warriors, in what was the best performance of the time in the G League, but it was in the NBA that he lived the best moment of the season: “It was the game against the Lakers. It made me feel like I belonged there and it showed the world that I can play at that level. Tag LeBron James? He’s an incredible player, one of the best ever, and it was great for me to have that kind of opportunity. I think I did a good job.”
