On Thursday, November 14, Spy Day was held in Nederweert-Eind. In the community center Reigershorst, 55 participants were informed about how they can limit the risk of falling. The Spy Day, part of Nederweert Fall Prevention, encouraged the residents of Nederweert-Eind to stay healthy and vital.
Fall prevention and buoyancy
Prevent falls
The goal of fall prevention is to reduce or prevent falls in the elderly by treating or modifying risk factors. If there is an increased risk of falling, residents will be put in touch with local experts during Spill Day. Spin Day not only helps to reduce the risk of falling, but it also takes into account other aspects of lifestyle that are important as we get older. During the motivation day, different topics are discussed that could reduce the risk of falling. Did you know, for example, that loose mats can increase the risk of falling? Or should you eat 90 to 100 grams of protein per day to maintain strong muscles? That good attitude is related to your balance organ? And that healthy feet and good shoes are an important foundation for standing firmly?

Housing consultants Jo Gielen and Jan Weijers from Langer Toês gave tips on how to prevent the risk of falling in and around the home.
Fall risk screening
During Spy Day, a smart floor, the Smartfloor, was used to measure the risk of falling among those present. This floor constantly monitors the user’s balance and walking behavior, so that the risk of falling can be accurately calculated. If the risk is increased, the partner can participate in ‘Falling past Tided’, a program that aims to strengthen physical health and improve movement.
