Heidelberg / Neckargemünd. (rl / cm) The Heidelberg public prosecutor brought charges against a lawyer from Neckargemünd to the Heidelberg lay judge on Monday, October 19. According to RNZ information, this is the investor and founder of the “Neckargemünd im Aufbruch” initiative, Thomas Ax.

He is said to have deliberately made false statements in three legal proceedings and affirmed them in lieu of an oath, said the Heidelberg public prosecutor.

In the first case, the lawyer is said to have given false information to the Karlsruhe Administrative Court in October 2018 regarding the course of a municipal council meeting of the city of Neckargemünd.

In another case, he allegedly affirmed false facts about his neighbors’ use of a sauna facility in June 2019 before the Heidelberg district court.

In another procedure conducted by the Heidelberg District Court in September 2019, he is said to have untruthfully submitted that the dogs belonging to him have never bitten a person and, moreover, would not “bust out” regularly, in order to prevent corresponding statements from another citizen from Neckargemünd.

The charge was brought before the lay judge’s court because of the amount of the impending sentence, especially since the lawyer is threatened with a professional ban.

Thomas Ax founded the initiative “Neckargemünd im Aufbruch”, which is critical of the city, and announced his candidacy as mayor for 2024. Most recently, he made headlines because of an attack by his dogs on the cat of the Free Voter City Councilor Steffen Wachert. He is also arguing in court with the city about the use of the former hotel-restaurant “Schwanen”, where he runs his law firm. Ax was unavailable on Thursday for comment.
