Jakarta (ANTARA) – General Chairperson of the Association of Indonesian Traditional Medicine and Herbal Medicine Developers (PDPOTJI) Dr (Cand.) dr Inggrid Tania, MSi said that neck tension and dizziness can appear after a person eats a meal high in fat, especially saturated fat.
“Foods high in carbohydrates such as pastries, ketupat (typical Eid food). Then those high in fat, for example all kinds of meat, plus coconut milk, are all high in fat,” he said in a written interview to ANTARA, Monday.
Apart from a tense neck and dizziness, complaints such as bloating, nausea, constipation and diarrhea can also be experienced immediately even within minutes after a person has eaten a high-fat meal.

Symptoms such as tension in the neck and dizziness indicate slowed blood flow and this condition can already be experienced by a person when one eats a high-fat meal.
“If blood flow slows down, including blood flow to the brain it also slows down, eventually causing complaints of dizziness, then usually the blood vessels will also become stiff, eventually causing tension in the neck,” explained Ingrid.
For those who are easily constipated or constipated, the constipation will be more severe and so are people who are prone to diarrhea, more prone to diarrhea after eating high-fat foods.
Inggrid added, these symptoms are not directly related to cholesterol because the process of fat metabolizing by the body so that it finally becomes cholesterol takes time.

“As soon as food enters the body, it is digested as fat which later becomes fatty acids, then there is another metabolic process in the body, later forming cholesterol, for example LDL, HDL, chylomicrons are also included in it,” he explained.
According to the website of the Ministry of Health, cholesterol is one of the components in fat which is needed as a source of calories, forms the walls of body cells, as a basic ingredient for the formation of hormones, vitamin D, bile juice and so on.
There are several types of cholesterol in the form of lipids and proteins, including LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) or known as bad cholesterol because it is the main cause of plaque formation in blood vessels, HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) which is known as good cholesterol which transports excess cholesterol from tissues and bring it back to the liver for reprocessing or removal from the body, VLDL (Very Low Density Lipoprotein) is used for energy and fat transfer.
Then there is also Triglyceride which is a type of fat needed for digestion and Lipoprotein or a type of cholesterol closely related to atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
In a literature mentioned, consumption of too many foods that contain high amounts of fat increases LDL cholesterol levels in the blood. If cholesterol levels are too high, or HDL cholesterol levels are too low, fat deposits accumulate in the blood vessels.
These deposits will make it difficult for blood to flow through the arteries so that they can cause problems throughout the body, especially in the heart and brain which can be fatal.
