Necessary economic certainty with Sheinbaum, says Ken Salazar

The United States ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, said that he has “a lot of confidence in President-elect (Claudia) Sheinbaum and her team; The economic relationship needs to have certainty, we will have to work a lot in the weeks and months ahead, if we do not have that certainty the dream of the USMCA (Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada) will disappear.

He considered that with the next federal president and her team “we will have to ensure certainty for the future, that is our position; That position (on judicial reform) that I declared has not changed, it is important because that is the basis of the TMEC and that will be the future.”

“Our desire is for Mexico to have a strong Judiciary, that has the trust of the people and investors,” said the diplomat who began a two-day visit to the state of Chihuahua and yesterday held a closed-door meeting in the government palace, with the PAN governor María Eugenia Campos, the state Secretary of Public Security, Gilberto Loya and other local officials.

After the meeting, Salazar stated in a collective interview that American businessmen invest in Mexico “because they have the dream of the USMCA happening.” (Treaty between Mexico, the United States and Canada), to lift everyone’s economy.

“What they want to see is accuracy, that they can go to a Court of the Judiciary where the judges are well qualified, where they will have the necessary resources so that they can ensure that investments will be protected,” he stressed.

He pointed out that “our relationship continues with the current government and the next one, I look forward to the transition, I am very excited that (the wife of the president of the United States) Jill Biden is coming to Mexico (for the inauguration of Sheinbaum), the next October 1st.

“He is going to come with a most important delegation to Mexico, which we have not sent anywhere in the world, because Mexico is that important for us; So the dialogue continues, the work continues,” he highlighted.
