As a result of the draw for the first round of the KNVB Cup competition there was only one game between two clubs in the Premier League. Last season’s losers NEC will receive a visit from PEC Zwolle.
For the first round, 28 professional clubs and 24 non-professional clubs were planned. The six clubs that had qualified for European football were still missing; they have freedom for the first reef. So cup holders Feyenoord, Ajax, AZ, Go Ahead Eagles, PSV and FC Twente are not in the draw.

Unprofessional Hercules, who won away at FC Groningen last year and played at home with a win over Ajax, are now also in attendance and will meet Premier League side Sparta Rotterdam in the first round. Spakenburg, who were only stopped by PSV in the semi-finals in 2023, will meet another amateur club with Katwijk.
FC Winterswijk, as a first division club that plays in the sixth tier in the Netherlands, a surprising name among the 52 teams, will face Heracles Almelo at home.
The first round matches will be played on Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 October.
