NEC beat Fortuna Sittard with three goals

NEC convincingly defeated Fortuna Sittard on Saturday night. In South Limburg, the score was 0-3 thanks to three different goal scorers: Koki Ogawa, Rober González and Sami Ouaissa.

NEC – dressed in their brand new third kit – had control in Sittard from the first whistle. Rogier Meijer’s team only expressed this in the score at the end of the first half. It was Koki Ogawa who, ten minutes before half-time, calmly volleyed an opportunistic cross from Brayann Pereira into the far corner.

Basic debutant

Five minutes later, Fortuna goalkeeper Mattijs Branderhorst had to fish again: now he had no chance on a header from Rober González. The Spaniard, the match winner against PEC Zwolle last week, only had to put his head against a perfect cross from Thomas Ouwejan, who was starting debutant. NEC went into the break with a 0-2 lead and there was little to argue about that.

After the break, Fortuna took a bit more initiative, but with Bram Nuytinck and Iván Márquez at the forefront of the battle, the threatening danger was quickly neutralized. With some fresh forces on the pitch, NEC regained some control over the duel. Pereira, Mees Hoedemakers and Kodai Sano were careless in the final phase, which prevented a larger margin for a long time.

Final chord

Substitute Sami Ouaissa was not: the Limburg native scored the final chord in the 89th minute with a low shot: 0-3! With another clean sheet, NEC enters the international period with a good feeling. The Eredivisie will resume on September 14 with an away match against PSV!
