Nearly one in ten dogs are not on a leash in nature reserves

Nearly one in ten dogs are not on a leash in nature reserves. The Agency for Nature and Forests reports this based on a sample of 576 owners. Anyone who did not keep their dog on a leash received a fine of 96 euros.

The checks showed that 9.57 percent of the dogs were not on a leash. This is important, both for nature and for other visitors, such as cyclists, horse riders and playing children. Dog owners who were in violation will be fined 96 euros. This amount may increase in the event of recidivism or if there are multiple stray dogs.

Owners who kept their dogs on a leash received dog snacks as a gift. The Nature and Forest Agency would like to remind you that there are specific dog off-leash areas where dogs can safely roam freely under the watchful eye of their owners.
