Bailiffs of the GGN office have been imposed a massive suspension due to shortages in the account where collected money was received, writes The Financial Times. 48 employees who worked for the company in the period 2014 to 2018 have been suspended for one month.
According to the business newspaper, this has never happened on this scale before.
GGN has appealed against the decision, which has postponed the measure for the time being. The commercial director of the office speaks to the newspaper of a “matter from the past” and says he is disappointed with the decision. GGN was not immediately available for further comment.
Suspension due to complaint
The suspension is the result of a decision by the Chamber of Bailiffs, following a complaint from the Financial Supervision Office. This body investigated the bailiffs at GGN and, according to the FD, found a so-called custody deficit on the firm’s third-party funds account.
The collected money is entered into such an account to ensure that if the bailiff goes bankrupt, payment can still be made. The FD notes that such a shortage of detention previously led to bailiffs being removed from office.
Because the case concerns a period longer ago, this also affects bailiffs who now work for another office.
