Inhabited by a special fervor, nearly 750 faithful, guests, took place in the cathedral of Chartres, for a very solemn service, this Monday, May 24, in the middle of the afternoon. An extraordinary Mass, which was intended to be the highlight of the Pentecostal pilgrimage of the traditionalist Catholics, left on the morning of the Saint-Sulpice church in Paris to rally the capital of Eure-et-Loir.
“It was a wet pilgrimage”, summed up a walker, on his arrival, but the bad weather conditions did not divert the pilgrims, who had to walk in chapters of ten people because of the health context, their spiritual path. All the more so as at Notre-Dame, they were expected and greeted by the bishop of Var, who presided over this mass.
A message of resilience
“The great challenge, as I sense it through this pandemic crisis, are these situations of loneliness, depression, anxiety … The religious experience helps us to find meaning, through the spiritual resources to face all of this. For me, what is the heart of Christianity is the resurrection, that is to say hope! The message that we must get from a Christian life is to be capable of resilience, to show the ability to bounce back. Our relationship with God is our capacity for resilience, ”testified Monsignor Rey, who celebrated the office according to the Roman Catholic rite with a Latin liturgy.
The traditionalists’ Pentecost pilgrimage, between Paris and Chartres, in a reduced version
Faced with the success of the event, a member of the Notre-Dame-de-Chrétienté association, which organized this meeting, was worried about being disappointed because of the limit gauge. Nevertheless, the faithful unable to access the cathedral, took refuge in the neighboring Saint-Aignan church where the service was broadcast on screen. “We were safe, like that”, rejoiced one of them, at the end of the celebration. The Notre-Dame-de-Chrétienté association had also planned a live broadcast on its social networks.
