More than 6.7 million face masks that do not meet the requirements have already been seized during checks by the economic inspectorate. Now that we are all obliged to wear a mask much more often, the FPS Economy warns against counterfeit and inferior masks.

Checks by the economic inspectorate show that many millions of mouth masks enter our country that do not meet the quality requirements at all. Since the start of the corona crisis, the inspection services have already had 241 shipments blocked. Out of a total of 719 checks, this means that in thirty percent of the cases there were forged models.
This concerns both surgical masks and cloth face masks. The FPS Economy warns to carefully check what you buy. “It is essential that these mouth masks, however you use them or wherever they come, still offer an adequate level of protection,” says Lien Meurisse of the FPS Economy.
In total, more than 6.7 million mouth masks have already been seized. For example, surgical masks must have the “CE” label on the packaging. This means that the producers must register and that their products must be certified within Europe. But that label is often faked. (tlb)
