After “EEAAO” was able to win seven prizes at the Academy Awards, the offbeat film by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert will increasingly be seen on Swiss screens again from Thursday.
An unwritten Swiss cinema law states that if a film wins the top prize at the Academy Awards, many people want to see it in the cinema – no matter how long it has been shown there. The wild martial arts sci-fi action tragicomedy Everything Everywhere All at Once this film is in 2023 – and the cinemas are ready for the potential audience rush.
As the Swiss distributor Filmcoopi has confirmed to us, the big Oscar winner will be shown in 49 cinemas in Switzerland from Thursday, March 16, 2023. This is the highest number of cinemas that the film has ever had in Switzerland. However, it must be said that the theatrical releases in German-speaking Switzerland, French-speaking Switzerland and Ticino last year were not simultaneous, but several months apart.
Even before the 95th Academy Awards, at which Everything Everywhere All at Once the prizes for best film, best director, best actress (Michelle Yeoh), best supporting actor (Ke Huy Quan), best supporting actress (Jamie Lee Curtis), best original screenplay and best editing have been awarded to a number of Swiss people cinemas have already put the film back in their programs – including blue Cinema. The calculation seems to have worked out, for example the evening performance on Monday evening in Zurich’s Riffraff cinema was very well attended.
From Thursday, the film will also be shown in all Pathé houses in Switzerland, in the Arthouse Le Paris in Zurich and many other cinemas from Geneva to Lugano to Schaffhausen. All cinemas and seasons can of course be found with us.
