Songs and prayers, like at mass, but on the forecourt of Saint-Germain church. Nearly 300 people gathered in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, in the Yvelines, to ask the government that religious celebrations be authorized again, despite the confinement.
“What you have to understand is that mass is something fundamental for us”, explains Cyril, a parishioner from Saint-Germain-en-Laye. “We do not dispute the health recommendations, but we dispute the fact that our worship is considered non-essential.
A message for the Minister of the Interior
For Brigitte, a life without Mass is inconceivable: “I go to mass every day. Since it’s forbidden, I’m unhappy, empty, I’m missing something”
The faithful hope their message will be heard by Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin which must also receive this Monday the representatives of the various religions.
