“We are demonstrating for the planet”, summarizes Zoé, 7 and a half years old, who signs – “Pollution is bogus” – in her hand, walks alongside her little sister, Mia and her mother Sarah, sensitive to the latest report, ever more alarming, from the IPCC, on the consequences of global warming. ” It is urgent to take action ! If we do nothing, nothing will happen! »
So no question for this mother, who came from Bonneval, to miss this march for the climate, organized in Chartres, this Saturday, March 12, by several associations, which work for the preservation of the environment and living things, as well as unions, under the leadership of the Collective of Citizens for the Climate (CPLC) Eure-et-Loir.
Inspired by the success of the film Don’t look up, the organizers wanted to put the issue of climate change back at the heart of the presidential and legislative debates that will follow. “This question represents only 2.7% of the time allocated to the presidential campaign by the media. It’s ridiculous ! The climate is something major. It must be kept in mind for its daily procedures but also in the context of these future elections, ”pleads Julien, a member of CPLC 28.
This new march therefore aimed to (re) awaken consciences in the run-up to the April election, in particular. Citizens, according to the organizers, can find the levers to encourage politicians to act “quickly”. “75% of greenhouse gas emissions are due to political choices. We must not put the dust under the rug and say that we will see that later! Since the first climate report, released in 1973, very little relevant has been done. There are the COPs, but these are small advances in relation to what needs to be done and the urgency of the situation,” laments Julien.
We want lasting change. We want a sustainable environmental preservation project for society and humanity!

About 250 people, according to the organizers, left the Place Châtelet, to survey the city center in the middle of Saturday afternoon, in order to make this movement visible.
Among them, Robinson, who came with Salomé, a friend, both discreetly wearing the colors of Ukraine. “We want lasting change. We want a sustainable environmental preservation project for society and humanity! »
Sensitive for several years to climate issues, he explains, his commitment has taken on new impetus thanks to Greta Thunberg. Yes
the 16-year-old Eurélien, who is part of Youth for climate Chartres, was delighted to see so many generations marching for this cause, he also said he was “frightened by the weak mobilization of 15-25 year olds”, in the procession.

The march finally stopped at Place des Epars, where representatives of various organizations, as well as elected environmentalists from Chartres and Rambouillet, took the floor, while marchers proclaimed “their opposition to the A154 Saint-Prest /Gasville-Oisème which is a threat to biodiversity”.
Before closing the event, the participants were invited to write down their ideas for personal action on sheets. “Boycott fruits and vegetables from South America,” proposed Françoise, who is on all the marches for the climate.
“Everyone must feel concerned! The air I breathe is very important to me. I would like more public transport for fewer cars”, pleads this militant retiree, who adheres to a dozen associations for the environment.
