Nearly 2,000 tourists have been evacuated from the ancient city of Petra following a major flood in Jordan. Heavy rains in the country have caused several serious accidents.
Three people died after a bus overturned on a dirt road. Despite the dangerous conditions and warnings from the Petra authorities, scores of tourists have decided to conduct impromptu rafting in evacuation boats. It is still unclear whether they have been fined, but some have described their actions as “irresponsible”.
